Presenter: Eric Hendriks

Dutch sociologist, Visiting Fellow at the Danube Institute, a geopolitical think tank in Budapest, and Director of the China Initiative at the Telos-Paul Piccone Institute, an academic publisher based in New York. His China Initiative promotes a mutually regarding discussion of social and political theory between China and the West. Hendriks is currently writing a book on visions of globalisation and world society beyond Western-centric assumptions. He studied philosophy and sociology at Utrecht, Berkeley, Göttingen, and the University of Chicago, earned his Ph.D. at the University of Mannheim, and did postdocs at the University of Bonn and Peking University. In addition to his academic work, Hendriks is an active public intellectual who has published more than a hundred essays in Dutch, German, and English-language outlets.
